God’s number one desire is His own glory. Isaiah 48:11 says, “For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another.” God’s plan to glorify Himself is shown in how He has orchestrated all of human history to glorify His Son, Jesus Christ.

Jesus came to glorify His Father by reconciling sinners to Himself. Jesus is not a means to an end (just a ticket to eternal life, or fire insurance), He is the end! Colossians 1:16 says, “For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things were created through him and for him.” Therefore, our mission in all that we do as a local body of believers is:

Glorifying God through whole-hearted obedience to the Great Commandments and passionate pursuit of the Great Commission.
