It shows the various unusual things God commanded him to do as an object lesson for the Israelites, in spite of the fact that they will not listen to him. It shows God’s judgement, and how he will execute his judgement even if the Israelites wind up crying out for mercy. Ezekiel’s ministry came at great personal cost to him, but there was hope for a remnant in Israel even after all of those horrible things would come to pass.
