Overview of Lamentations
Lamentations is a book of sorrow and pain. It documents the pouring out of the wrath of God upon Jerusalem, the evil the Israelites committed that brought it upon them, and the immense, unrelenting suffering they endured. And yet, how even in the midst of it, the anonymous author who wrote this book nonetheless still sees the justice of God in what he has caused to happen to his nation, and still finds hope that they may yet find mercy because of God’s mercy.
